03. The End of the F***ing World (Dir. Jonathan Entwistle, 2017) TV Review

Image
When this show, inspired by Charles Forman's comic book series, was first released on Netflix, it was all I ever heard about. It was all over Twitter and Instagram. Friends constantly pestered me, asking if I had seen it yet.   No , I thought, irritated, I'll watch it in my own time, thank you very much.  And so, time passed. People stopped posting cute interviews of Alex Lawther (who plays the character of James in T.E.O.T.F.W) and eventually, so did the persistent comments telling me that I just had to watch it. And so here I am, at 03:05am, after remembering that this show exists due to a subtle reminder from a friend, and binging it all in one night (it wasn't that difficult really, each episode is only twenty minutes long).  Overall, I am torn about this show.  It had a lot of aspects that I would usually enjoy: British humour, awkward characters, drama, Bonnie and Clyde-esque themes. And however much I would love to whole heartedly enjoy it, the p...

02. NCT U BOSS Music Video Review

Image
This bitch thought she was prepared for NCT U's comeback. This bitch was not. SM released the music video for NCT U’s new single BOSS , and every single man in those three minutes and thirty four seconds of a masterpiece snatched every single one of my hair follicles right from my scalp. If you have stumbled across this blog post, and are concerned for my wellbeing and are generally confused, let me give you the run down. NCT U debuted two new members from the grasp of SM’s talent dungeon*  into this units comeback— Jungwoo and Lucas— alongside adding a previously debuted member from NCT 127, WinWin, into the group. Sadly this comeback only included four of the original members, Taeyong, Doyoung, Jaehyun and Mark (completely ignoring that Ten has been hidden away since his solo SM Station song A Dream in a Dream, and also that Taeil is a completely underrated vocalist. BUT that’s none of my business). NCT U’s debut with The 7th Sense was a  musical and vis...

01. Black Panther (Dir. Ryan Coogler, 2018) Film Review

Image
As a valentines treat, I took my boyfriend to see  Black Panther . (When I say treat, I mean treating  myself  to a close up, HD view of Michael B. Jordans face.) First off, I’d like to just say that I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this film. The characters? Brilliant. The mise-en-scene? Phenomenal. Cinematography? Astonishing. Let’s just say that pretty much everything ranked this film extremely high on my appreciation scale. Black Panther  was a delight from start to finish, giving me a Marvel origin movie that was on par with  Iron Man  (Dir. John Favreau, 2008). The only negative thing I can think to comment on is the use of outdated meme references, but even those can be overlooked. I think the aspects that really stood out to me, and impressed me the most, were the plentiful amount of strong female characters, and how the soundtrack to the film really made me feel like I was watching a  film , rather than just another movie to a...
