06. The Shape of Water (Dir. Guillermo Del Toro, 2017) Film Review

Image
I finally made the time to watch the scaly phenomenon that has been doing swimmingly this Oscar season. Straight off the bat this film is so wonderfully designed with such a lovely colour palette. Of course, revolving a film around a Mermaid/God/Amphibian man would call for variations of blue and green colouring throughout, but I just found the colours so wonderfully whimsical and beautiful that I thought it was worth a mention.  The sound track is absolutely enchanting also, and I loved the fact that even though Eliza (Sally Hawkins) is mute, she adores listening to and dancing to music. Music is a universal medium, and therefore having the bonds between  characters developed through their sharing of music is rather symbolic of how music can unite people, and even creatures, of all different backgrounds. Speaking of Sally Hawkins, her performance is brilliant, not only being convincing as a person living mute, but also in how endearing, and also strong, she comes ac...

05. NCT DREAM GO Music Video Review

Image
Everyone's favourite talented group of twelve year olds are BACK, and no, I don't mean the Stranger Things cast. I mean NCT Dream, and I am ready to file a lawsuit.   (Okay, literally all of them are over the age of sixteen and a good majority are only a few months younger than me but they're still BABIES.)  For NCT's latest album, NCT 2018, NCT Dream have now joined the ranks alongside NCT U for their come back. Finally, Jaemin is back in my life and I have never been happier. Mark, however, is still trying to catch a breath from his comeback with BOSS which was literally two weeks ago (I wonder if he is he actually an SM favourite, or are they just trying to over work him in an attempt to kill him off? Making way for WinWin, Yuta and  Johnny to snatch some lines I see.) Anyway. Due to their age, NCT Dream previously released music and videos with cute, bubbly concepts, which were adorable and which I supported, however it was mostly music I wouldn't choo...

04. J-Hope: 'Hope World' mix tape and 'Daydream' MV Review

Image
J-Hope (rapper from the Korean group BTS, for all you uneducated people out there) finally dropped his first mix tape, after years of anticipation. After only one day of being released, J-Hope now holds the title for a Korean solo artist with the most number ones on iTunes. As some of you reading this may already know that I am whipped for J-Hope and literally anything he does, it comes as no surprise that I was filled with fangirl-ish glee when the mix tape and music video for Daydream was released. However, I had to wait six torturous hours, avoiding every single spoiler on social media as I waited for my flat mate to return home to watch it with me.  When it finally was time to sit down, relax and bless my ears and eyes, I was definitely not disappointed. Compared to J-Hope's other rapline members in BTS, RM and Suga (Agust D) who have released mix tapes previously, J-Hope has a much chiller vibe to his music, which I personally enjoy more than harsher sounding rap, and ...
